Smile design is the planning step of a smile makeover: the dentist designs the shape, size, color and position of your new teeth digitally, based on your face and lips, before any tooth is touched. With Dr. Mendoza you receive a free digital preview from a photo, and a full-mouth smile design in porcelain costs US$6,000 in qualifying cases.
What is digital smile design?
Digital smile design (DSD) uses photos and scans of your face and teeth to plan the ideal smile on screen. It considers your facial midline, lip line, how much tooth shows when you speak and smile, and your skin tone — so the result looks like your smile, not a generic one.
The digital plan then guides the lab that fabricates your veneers. Because Dr. Mendoza's clinic has its own dental laboratory, the design and the fabrication happen under one roof.
Smile design, smile makeover, Hollywood smile — the same thing?
- Smile design is the plan.
- Smile makeover is the treatment that carries it out — usually porcelain veneers, sometimes combined with crowns, whitening or gum contouring.
- Hollywood smile is a popular name for a very bright, even, full smile makeover. Dr. Mendoza designs the shade and shape to look natural on you, whether you want subtle or bold.
